False False False
Claim:"there is ample evidence" asymptomatic people may be what's keeping the pandemic alive"
Fact: asymptomatic transmission has never been Scientifically proven. There is No compelling evidence !!
Claim: "The data is clearly there that masking works," Redfield told Dr. Howard Bauchner, JAMA's editor in chief"
Fact: the data actually shows that masks are ineffective.
Claim: "Moreover, those who refuse masks are putting their lives, their families, their friends, and their communities at risk"
Fact: those who refuse masks are not putting anyone at risk.
Claim: "They likened not wearing a mask with choosing to be operated on by a team without any face coverings — an "absurd" option because it's known the clinicians' conversations and breathing would generate microbes that could infect an open wound"
Fact: These are 2 very separate situations.

The Curve Has Been Flattened
- Even though the COVID-19 curve has been flattened, mainstream media outlets continue to push doomsday predictions of an impending explosion of deaths
- According to Stanford University's disease prevention chairman Dr. John Ioannidis, the COVID-19 fatality rate for those under the age of 45 is “almost zero,” and between the ages of 45 and 70, it’s somewhere between 0.05% and 0.3
- So, the fact that young and middle-aged adults are testing positive in droves is not a warning sign of an impending onslaught of deaths, as the risk of death in these age groups is minuscule
- According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the COVID-19 mortality — which had declined for the last 10 weeks straight — “is currently at the epidemic threshold,” meaning if it declines just a little more, COVID-19 will no longer be considered an epidemic
- The sharp increases in “cases” are not proof of disease spread but, rather, the spread of testing

"Face mask use in health care workers has not been demonstrated to provide benefit in terms of cold symptoms or getting colds. A larger study is needed to definitively establish noninferiority of no mask use"

There is very little data showing that masks can
Help prevent infection

"We identified 6 clinical studies (3 RCTs, 1 cohort study and 2 case–control studies) and 23 surrogate exposure studies. In the meta-analysis of the clinical studies, we found no significant difference between N95 respirators and surgical masks in associated risk of (a) laboratory-confirmed respiratory infection"

"We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. They also go on to say "It is also clear that masks serve symbolic roles. Masks are not only tools, they are also talismans that may help increase health care workers’ perceived sense of safety, well-being, and trust in their hospitals."

NY Help Stop Mask Mandates
This bill is just another of the many bills passed and proposed since 2018 that steadily take away medical decision making away from individuals and parents of minors, and gives that power to politicians, bureaucrats, businesses, anyone but the person who will need to live with the consequences of the decision, and who will have to pay for it.
New York State Senator Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) introduced Senate Bill S8559a, and Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal (D-Upper Westside) introduced the identical Assembly Bill A10694.
These bills are completely redundant. Current Executive Orders already achieve the purported goals of the proposed law. One would assume that when Cuomo believes the Executive Orders are no longer necessary, he will stop renewing them. These bills will simply saddle us with a new permanent silly law. One thing is clear, even by the logic of the Cuomo administration, it does nothing new to protect public health.
Please click on the link on bottom of page to send a message to your State Senator and Assemblymember as well as Kaminsky and Rosenthal, and the Governor, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins and Speak of the Assembly Carl Heastie, to express your opposition to this bill.
And please get on the phone and call your State Senator and Assemblymember, as well as sponsors Kaminsky and Rosenthal while you are at it and let them know politely that you oppose this bill.
State Senator Todd Kaminsky, (516) 766-8383, (518) 455-3401
Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal (212) 873-6368, (518) 455-5172
Please call your State Senator and Assemblymember and let them know you oppose this bill. They aren't in the office much these days so you will probably have to leave a message.
One of the worst tendencies of legislators is "Dosomethingism." Problems arise and legislators want to be seen "doing something" about the problem. Frequently, they don't much care what it is that they do, they care even less about the consequences doing something might have, they just don't want to be caught not "doing something." So they will pass any kind of stupid law as long as they can say they did something. This law seems like a good example of Dosomethingism.
Please share this message with friends and family, and please post to social networks while we still can.
